The $5,200 Titans Event at PokerStars is one of the toughest online poker tournaments. The high buy-in attracts elite-level grinders from far and wide, so coming out on top comes with a substantial top prize and plenty of kudos from the champion's peers.
The latest Titans Event drew in 59 entries, who built a $295,000 prize pool. $91,663 of that sum is nestled in the PokerStars account of Jonathan "Proudflop" Proudfoot, who defeated Austrian star "Phemo" heads-up to capture the title.
As one would expect, the Titans Event field was a star-studded affair. Such luminaries as Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo, Aleksejs "APonakov" Ponakovs, Niklas "Lena900" Astedt, Dominik "Bounatirou" Nitsche, and Pascal "Pass_72" Lefrancois bought in but failed to navigate to the top seven finishing places where the prize pool was distributed.

Two of the players at the final table busted empty-handed. Online poker veteran "hello_totti" crashed out in ninth before Ole "wizowizo" Schemion ran out of steam in eight, bursting the money bubble. Last week, Schemion became the New Year Series Main Event champion and banked $224,424.
Austria's "Kurfurst" was the first player eliminated in the money places, and their seventh-place finish came with a $12,837 payout. Brazilian sensation Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani collected $17,814 for his sixth-place exit before British grinder Gavin "gavz101" Cochrane fell in fifth for $24,270.

Two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Alexandre "ReWaRds84" Reard saw his Titans Event run end in a fourth-place finish worth $34,304. Earlier that night, Reard triumphed in the $1,050 Sunday Warm-Up High Roller for $19,912.
The tournament progressed to the heads-up stage when Spanish superstar Adrian "Amadi_017" Mateos crashed out in third. Mateos reeled in $47,602 and left Proudfoot in a one-on-one clash with "Phemo" of Austria.
Proudfoot eventually came out on top and raked in a $91,663 score, leaving "Phemo," the New Year Series Main Event fourth-place finisher ($99,418), to scoop the $66,056 consolation prize.
Reard and Cimbolas Among the Weekend's Winners

As mentioned, Alexandre "ReWaRds84" Reard won the $1,050 Sunday Warm-Up High Roller for $19,912 on his way to a fourth-place exit in the $5,200 Titans. Lithuania's Matas "bebaimis777" Cimbolas also found himself in the winner's circle, taking down the $215 StacKOsaurus for $15,686, which included progressive bounty payments.
There were mixed emotions for Team PokerStars' Laurie "LaliTournier" Tournier in the $109 Sunday Million. The popular Brazilian finished Day 1 of the Sunday Million 21st in chip with 123 players remaining. However, Day 2 didn't go to plan, and Tourneier crashed out in 97th place for $1,516. "8_Spizzico_9" came out on top and helped themselves to $79,534.
Tournier's teammate, Benjamin "Spraggy" Spragg, came agonizingly close to becoming the $109 Sunday Fenomeno champion. The British streamer ultimately finished second for $9,773, missing out to Paddy Power Poker Ambassador Conor "ccOOnnOOrr" O'Driscoll heads-up.
