Discarding cards that are unlikely to help your own melds while keeping in mind what your opponents might require is a smart strategy. If an opponent has been picking up cards from a particular suit and you have a number apollo slotsof low-value cards in that suit, for instance, it might be prudent to discard one of those low-value cards rather than risk giving them a vital piece for their meld. On the other hand, it can be just as crucial to know when to hold onto particular cards. If a card has the potential to finish a run or set but you aren't sure if it will be useful right away, think about holding onto it for a few rounds while watching your opponents' moves.

Sets & runs are the only possible combinations in this game. Three or four cards of the same rank but different suits make up a set, whereas three or more cards of the same suit in a row make up a run. Each player is dealt 13 cards at the beginning of the game. The top card is positioned face-up next to the other cards to start the discard pile, while the remaining cards make up the draw pile. Each player takes turns selecting a card from the discard or draw pile, after which they discard one card from their hand.
