The race for the World Series of Poker Circuit’s all-time ring leader has seen another shift at the top.
Ari Engel has now pulled ahead of Maurice Hawkins, taking the lead with 19 WSOP Circuit rings. Just a week ago, the two were neck-and-neck, but Engel’s victory on Saturday has made him the frontrunner.
Engel reached an unprecedented milestone during the 2025 March Online Super Circuit on WSOP.com Pennsylvania, winning the $35,000 guaranteed NLH Big $500 event, which had 86 entries. His victory earned him $10,141 and put him in the lead on the all-time leaderboard.
Meanwhile, Hawkins, who was tied with Engel just days ago, recently won the $1,700 Main Event at WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Baltimore, taking home $140,752. However, Hawkins’ win sparked controversy when, at the final table, he eliminated Divyam Satyarthi in third place despite Satyarthi holding the best hand.
Engel v Hawkins: A Timeline

Hawkins’ journey to the all-time ring leader status began in earnest in the early 2010s. By 2017, Hawkins reached the WSOP Circuit summit when he won his 10th ring. This victory officially established him as the all-time leader at the time.
However, Hawkins’ reign at the top was interrupted in 2018 by Valentin Vornicu. Vornicu briefly overtook Hawkins, securing his 12th ring to push Hawkins into second place. But Hawkins wasn't to be outdone for long. By April 2019, he clinched his 12th ring, sharing the top spot once again. Just two weeks later, he achieved his 13th ring, officially reclaiming the number-one position where he would remain for a significant stretch of time.
Though Hawkins had cemented his place at the top, his reign was not without challenges. In 2021, Josh Reichard briefly tied Hawkins with 14 rings. Hawkins’ response was swift, as he quickly won his 15th ring in early 2023 to maintain his lead. At that point, Hawkins looked untouchable.

While Hawkins dominated the Circuit in the 2010s, a new challenger began to emerge on the horizon: Ari Engel. Engel’s ascent on the WSOP Circuit leaderboard was steady but unmistakable. By 2023, Engel was within striking distance of Hawkins. That year, Engel won an impressive five rings, pushing his total from 11 to 16 to take pole position for the first time.
Hawkins added another ring to his collection in 2023, bringing his total to 16 as well. The two players were locked in a dead heat, both vying for the top position.
Engel’s second breakthrough came in 2024. He secured his 17th ring, briefly pulling ahead of Hawkins to take the lead once again. Hawkins, who had long been the face of WSOP Circuit dominance, was now in a race to reclaim his position.

In January 2025, Engel won another ring in the online circuit, bringing his total to 18 rings. Despite Engel’s lead, Hawkins was far from done. In early 2025, Hawkins responded to Engel’s surge with two more WSOP Circuit victories, bringing his total to 18 rings—tied once again with Engel at the top. The rivalry was heating up once more, with each player answering the other’s success with impressive wins of their own.
Then, on March 8, 2025, Engel once again made his mark. He claimed his 19th ring in a victory during the March Online Super Circuit on WSOP.com PA, regaining his position at the top of the all-time leaderboard. Engel’s victory pushed him ahead of Hawkins once more—at least for now.

- In order to help you succeed in this classic card game, we will examine the basic rules of Rummy, look at its different variations, & offer valuable tips. The basic idea behind Rummy is to create legitimate card combinations, which can be runs or sets. Three or four cards of the same rank but different suits make up a set, whereas three or more cards of the same suit in a row make up a run. Being the first player to combine all of your cards into legal combinations and go out is the goal. Each player is normally dealt a certain number of cards at the start of the game, and the remaining cards are arranged face down to create a draw pile. 25-03-15
- Bluffing or misdirection is another sophisticated tactic. You can cause confusion & possibly interfere with your opponents' strategies by discarding cards that might give the impression that you are pursuing one meld while actually working toward another. But this tactic needs to be used carefully because if it's overdone or used at the wrong moment, it can backfire and reveal your true intentions to your opponents. 25-03-15
- To make a discard pile, the top card in this stack is turned face up. The players alternately draw a card from the discard pile or the draw pile, then discard one card from their hand. Until a player successfully melds every card in their deck, the cycle keeps going. Unmelded cards in a player's hand at the conclusion of a round are typically counted as points against them, though scoring in Rummy can vary depending on the particular rules of the variation being played. 25-03-15
- Also, players can gain exclusive access to tournaments and special events by using promo codes, which can enhance their gaming experience and allow them to compete for bigger prizes. Even though the Slots Winner Promo Code has alluring advantages, it's important to be aware of the rules and regulations surrounding its use. To get the most out of each promo code, players must fulfill certain requirements. Minimum deposit sums, wagering requirements, & expiration dates are typical terms. Promo codes might, for example, stipulate that players must wager their bonus money a specific number of times before they can withdraw any winnings, or they might require a minimum deposit of $20 to be eligible for a bonus. Also, some promo codes might only work on particular casino games or categories. 25-03-15
- When a player knocks, meaning they have made most of their card combinations that are valid, or when they achieve Gin by melding all of their cards, the game is over. Indian Rummy, which can hold up to six players and frequently uses two decks of cards, is another popular variation. Players must create at least two sequences in Indian Rummy, one of which needs to be a pure sequence—that is, a run devoid of a joker. Because jokers can be used to replace any card in a meld, they give the game an exciting new twist. Players in this variation are required to continuously evaluate their hands & modify their strategies in light of the cards at their disposal, which highlights strategic thinking & flexibility. 25-03-15
- In variations such as Indian Rummy, where winning requires a pure sequence, it can also be very important. Holding onto valuable cards until they can be melded successfully is another strategy players should think about because discarding them too soon could give opponents an advantage. Moreover, effective hand management is essential. By retaining cards that can contribute to several possible melds, players should try to keep their options open. Quick adjustments are made possible by this adaptability when new cards are drawn or discarded during play. By using these tactics and staying alert during the game, players can greatly increase their chances of winning in a variety of Rummy variations. 25-03-15
- Each kind offers different difficulties & calls for different gameplay strategies. For example, certain variations place more emphasis on timing when melding cards, while others emphasize strategic discarding. Players who want to master the game and modify their tactics appropriately must comprehend these distinctions. 25-03-15
- Players are encouraged by this feature to refrain from overspending and to stick to their spending plans. In addition, 777 Slots provides self-exclusion choices for people who think they need to stop gambling completely. If required, players may decide to implement longer-term exclusions or even temporarily suspend their accounts. 25-03-15
- For any Rummy variation to be successful, a balance between these two extremes must be struck. If you want to improve your Rummy skills beyond the fundamentals, a few sophisticated strategies can give you a competitive advantage in a variety of variations. One method for determining which cards are still in play and what your opponents might be holding is to count the number of cards that have been played. This ability can greatly improve your decision-making while playing, but it does require practice. 25-03-15
