Each player receives a certain number of cards—usually 13—while the draw pile is made up of the remaining cards. In order to make legitimate combinations and get rid of unwanted cards, players alternately draw cards from the draw or discard pile. The round is won when one player declares Rummy after successfully melding all of their cards.
