Daehyung Lee comes to the final table of the biggest tournament of the year as an almost completely unknown quantity.
Lee has a handful of live tournament cashes from the last year or so, summing up to just $148,109 — a fraction of the min-cash he will earn just by being at the Main Event final table.
His first appearance on the tournament scene was a 10th-place finish in a Korean high-roller event in March 2024. Since then, Lee also scored a handful of WSOP cashes. He had two at last year's series and a 255th finish in Event #68 this year. The last of these was his deepest run at the series until this Main Event.
So, if there's an underdog story to be told at this year's Main Event final table, Lee's might be it.

Lee joined the Main Event field in the first starting flight, finishing about two-thirds of the way down the rankings for the Day 1 field.
It was a solid, if unremarkable start that Lee built on gradually during Day 2abc, moving into the middle of the pack by the close of play.
But it was on Day 3 was the day things really changed. Lee moved rapidly up through the rankings as he built his stack breaking the top 100. He was then able to hold this position near the top of the rankings all the way to the end of Day 6, when he finished fourth out of the 57 remaining players.
Even as the field shrank on Days 7 and 8, Lee kept a low profile, steering clear of big confrontations and maintaining his stack with quiet, small-ball poker. He busted a few small stacks, collecting blinds and small pots where he could, but rarely put his own stack in danger.
That said, a bit of Lady Luck is also needed in tournaments and smiled upon Lee when he hit a rivered straight with pocket tens against the pocket queens of Lautaro Guerra to save his tournament life.
This strategy got him through to the final table, but only just. Lee currently sits in eighth place with 22 big blinds (34,900,000) and will have some real work ahead of him if he's to beat the other eight players to claim the $10,000,000 first-place prize and the WSOP Main Event gold bracelet.
